The Founders
One long conversation that finally became a company.
The Start
Nick and Jeremy met in 2018 in Portland, Oregon, in the very real-life season of newborns, tired parents, and backyard hangouts. Their wives met first, at a mom + newborn yoga class, and figured out before the guys did that Nick and Jeremy should know each other too. The families lived just a few blocks apart, and what started as a casual hang on the lawn turned into a lasting friendship.
They bonded over running, business ideas, family life, seafood, pets, and a shared love of the outdoors. Their families traveled together. Their kids grew up alongside one another. And running through every conversation, Nick's stories from Bristol Bay: the boat, the run, the fish, the family operations that had been working those waters for as long as anyone could remember.
Eventually one of those stories turned into a question. Bristol Bay catches some of the best wild salmon on earth, but a meaningful share of it doesn't fit standard fillet cuts and ends up underused. Perfectly good protein, being underutilized.
Nick called Jeremy with a simple question: what if we turned this into the best dog treat you can buy?
The idea had been finding its way into conversation for years. This time, the timing felt right.
Bristol Bay Bites is the answer. Built together, rooted in friendship, family, and wild Bristol Bay salmon.

Co-Founder · Bristol Bay Fisherman
Nick was three years old the first time his family packed up for Bristol Bay. Every summer after that, the moment school got out, the family headed north to follow the sockeye run. His dad ran a small salmon processing business in the bay, and those summers shaped the way Nick understood fish, work, and the people behind the harvest.
He bought his first commercial fishing boat at twenty-two. After thirty-seven summers in Bristol Bay, nearly two decades running his own drift gillnet operation, and a lifetime spent around every step from the net to the processor to the final product, Nick brings a working knowledge that cannot be manufactured. His boat, the Casi Jo, is named after his wife and remains part of his family’s connection to the bay.
Nick is the standard behind every product. Responsible harvest. Careful handling. Full traceability. Not as marketing claims, but as the way he has worked his whole life. Bristol Bay Bites exists because he wanted that same standard to apply to the food his dogs were eating too.

Co-Founder
Jeremy has spent his career helping build consumer brands that people genuinely care about. From food and wellness to outdoor recreation and lifestyle products, he's always been drawn to companies with a strong sense of purpose, brands that stand for something beyond the product itself.
Along the way, he worked at Strava, helping support a brand that inspires people to live active lives, joined Wild Friends Foods where he saw firsthand how two founders built an entrepreneurial idea into a nationally recognized company, and later helped grow Caddis, a brand challenging the way people think about aging. Each experience reinforced the same lesson: the strongest brands are built around authentic stories, passionate founders, and products people believe in.
Across every role, Jeremy found himself asking the same question: What would it look like to build something of his own?
A conversation with Nick led to the opportunity to build the kind of company he had always admired: one rooted in real people, a real place, and a product with an authentic story behind it.
Today, Jeremy leads the business side of Bristol Bay Bites, from operations and supply chain to e-commerce and finance, helping bring wild Bristol Bay sockeye salmon from Alaska to dogs across the country.
